Yes, this will get you the current revision of the 6th edition (79th printing, Dec 2016)

Hello friends, If you are reading this review you already know that this is the gold standard of ECG texts for many reasons. I won't rehash what many other talented reviewers have written, so if you want details on the content of the book check out some of the other reviews. You may or may not know that the content of this excellent book is updated with each printing to ensure clinical relevancy. I am writing this review to address one question that I was unable to find an answer to prior to purchasing: will buying this book get you the most current revision of the most current edition (6th)? The answer appears to be yes. I purchased this book new from Amazon directly and received a copy from the December 2016 printing of the 6th Edition (current edition). As far as I know this is the most recent printing. I'm sure the changes are small but it's nice to know you are getting what you pay for when buying new. Photos attached. I hope this is helpful. As you can see it appears to go through 2-3 printings per year so we are probably due for a new version soon. Whether it will make a different is anyone's guess, I just wanted to make sure my copy would reflect the major 2015 AHA updates and it appears that this does.

I often get overwhelmed opening a textbook... This book is not that way at all

This is literally EKG's for idiots. Dubin breaks it down and spoon feeds the information to you in a way that makes it easy for a first year medical student to understand this information at its fundamental level to then apply it to more complex disease states. Often times when I read a text book I feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information included on a page. This book does not leave me feeling that way at all. It is simple to read and easy to digest and he does a great job of reiterating points as you progress though the book and introducing concepts in such a manner that they are easy to grasp on the first read though.

BEWARE OF COUNTERFEITS!

This is an excellent book for learning how to decipher EKGs, but anyone purchasing this should beware of counterfeit copies. Amazon doesn’t seem to care about taking the listings down for the counterfeits, so buyer beware. The original book retails for around $40 and the ISBN for it is 9780912912066. Don’t settle for anything less!

First time pre-ACLS life saver!

I got this gem 4 days ago and I’m already at least 1/3 the way through it. I’m a new nurse using this before I take ACLS certification, and I prefer to really understand how and why something is than just memorize a certain framework. I “got” ekgs enough to pass nursing school and the NCLEX but this book is fantastic and so detailed and actually interesting. I feel so much more knowledgeable already, like I could look at a strip and understand where and what is happening- so that’s awesome! I can’t wait to finish and I would recommend this to anyone in the medical field who feels like a dummy about EKGs. I would say it only requires the basic level of knowledge of at least an emt with ekg exposure or one in medical/nursing school with anatomy/physiology courses completed. Although he will break everything down (quickly) in the start, I think you have to have a solid knowledge of the autonomic nervous system and some other concepts to really utilize this book to its full potential- but you could definitely improve your knowledge regardless but will miss some major eggs. each page restates similar/related information in a very logical and emphasized way that is great for recall. BUT NOTE: this fantastic book (the one I received, 6th ed) was printed in 2000. Most if not all of the information I’ve read so far is basic/time-tested material; but 18 years is a small lifetime of evidenced based knowledge. I would think mostly pharmacological treatment algorithms would be changed the most but I haven’t reached that part (if it’s even in the book), but that’s not why I got this book- I will master those after getting this awesome base! You rock, Doctor Dubin!

A classic text any medical professional should have

I work with a 70 year old cardiologist who is truly a legend in the field. He mentioned that this was the book that he memorized and read front to back during his residency and fellowship. I work in primary care, but if it worked for him, it sure as heck works for me. The book is extremely easy to understand and follow. The explanations are simple and he makes it easy to retain information. While the organization isn't the absolute greatest, it is still no reason to give this book anything less than 5 stars. Use post-it tabs and keep re-reading information you don't understand. This book is a gem to have.

A Game-Changer

Learning about EKGs during my undergraduate physiology course, I can say without a doubt I was extremely weak in this subject. Now, as a nursing student, I decided it was of utmost importance to develop a deeper understanding of EKGs. Dr. Dale Dubin's "Rapid Interpretation of EKGs" was an absolute life-changer for me, ultimately allowing me to understand and differentiate cardiac rhythms, as well as appreciate the anatomy and physiology behind the heart and its electrical conduction system. I highly recommend this to anyone who yearns for knowledge of EKGs!

Great resource for understanding ECG!

I've been a nurse for the last 4 years and have never quite grasped telemetry since it is not often necessary where I work. But as I am about to transition to a critical care role, I was recommended this book and it has absolutely loved up to it's reputation so far. I'm only a few chapters in, but it is very clearly structured, has clear diagrams, and is not overwhelming as many text books can feel. If my opinions change as I read on I will update, otherwise I'd recommend for anyone looking to understand ECG better!

Received a forgery.

My friend who was in med school 10 years ago let me borrow this book and it's GREAT. I felt bed keeping it for so long, that I bought my own copy. Turns out, this seller is sending forgeries. The color of the cover is different; the word "simplified" is misspelled on the cover; Dale Dubin doesn't have "M.D." behind his name. The pages inside are black and white scanned reprints rather than the glossy color pages of an authentic edition. Do not buy from this vendor. Check out the side by side photos. The authentic copy is on the right (orange).

Super simple sugar bear

This book is awesome! I'm a medical student and this block we're studying cardiology. I am near the bottom of the class. I go to lecture everyday and absolutely understand NADA because the lecturer speaks on a level that is 10x more advanced than me, but the other students seem to understand it. I bought this book because after 4 lectures of EKG's at my school, the only thing I got out of it is that EKG's are cool little zig zags. I didn't know how to diagnose ANY cardiac pathologies from EKG's. So I bought this book to give me a leg up on my competition, or at least be on an even level with the rest of the med students in my class. It helped me a looooooot. This book explains to you like you're an elementary school student. I now understand EKG's much better than before. The book is ~ 350 pages, but there are diagrams on every page and a few notes to accompany each diagram, so they're not really "full pages." I like this, because if you condense it all into a regular book without diagrams, it's really only like 100 pages of reading. I understood EKG's after devoting one day of a weekend toward studying it. This book is AWESOME, really explains things well!!!!

Great for help with your ekg tech certification course

Great book! I took an ekg tech certification course a month ago and used this book to help me better understand cardiac depolarization and repolarization. It was so much better than the other books I ordered and helped me grasp not only the concept of reading ekg’s but fully understand how the electrical system in the heart works. Some people say this book is too much but I think it’s great and definitely helped me out.
